Scouting for Boys
There are, perhaps, few books that are so well known as Scouting for Boys. This book is the foundation for Scouting as we know it today, the inspiration behind our Movement and the incentive for those youngsters who, back in 1908, were so keen to experience Scouting that their enthusiasm brought the Scout movement into being.

Appearing originally in six fortnightly parts, written and illustrated by the Founder himself, the concept quickly caught on and both Baden-Powell and the many people he asked to help him frame the Badge tests and Rules and also to cope with the amendments on technical matters kept the book relevant.

However, there came a time when the tinkering had to stop and the revisions, adjustments and alterations of all kinds had to cease. It was decided that a "once and for all" edition of Scouting for Boys would be published.

This book is the result - an edition which retains most of the Founder's original work whilst omitting the parts that have become irrelevant, out of date and have ceased to be applicable to a modern and expanding movement. In addition it also contains many of the Founder's own sketches which did not appear in some of the earlier additions.

This is a book which has a historical basis and gives a great insight to Scouting as it was conceived in 1908, as well as having many facets which are still as attractive and relevant today as they were al those years ago.
